I see a few online but I do not trust anybody !! I spend good dollars to get my Iphone and I do not want to screw it up.

if your iPhone 3GS on 3.1.3 firmware, there is no tool to unlock it Right now, and if your iPhone stay 3.1.2 you can try this-first choice tool Blackra1n, and here is the step by step guide

You cannot use it with a local sim unless it’s unlocked. If you just bring it as it is and use it, you’ll be using international roaming and you’ll bankrupt yourself.

MBK is the best place to get your phone unlocked, check with a few shops before you decide which one to use, the prices can vary considerably and most shops do not unlock phones although many do. I’m not sure about the upgrade, you can do it yourself from the App Store online, or if don’t have access to a computer here you might try an iStudio shop in Bangkok, they are an authorized Apple retailer with many shops around Bangkok with stores close to MBK at Siam Paragon and Central World Plaza.
