Question by : What does Apple mean when they release a new OS?
Later this week, Apple Computers is releasing a new iPhone OS, namely 4.0.

Does it mean a new software like the previous 3.0 update OR a new line of iPhone device?
Just a little confusion.

OS stands for operating system. Its not the same as 3.0 or the 3.1.3 updates.
for example, windows 98 was the big thing in the 90′s and then windows XP came out with a whole new look and tons of new features and upgrades. but before windows Vista came out, there were many windows XP updates, just like the iphone has the 3.1.2 and 3.1.3 updates. the iphone OS 4.0 will be like windows vista coming out to replace windows XP

I have an iPhone 3G at the moment and the screen is completely WHITE/ BLANK
can’t do anything about it. I picked up the phone one day and it stayed white and I youtubed it and everything on how to fix it nothing worked.

I was wondering since it wasn’t my fault and I took it to apple, will they fix the phone with no charge?

Note: The iphone was jailbroken once but I restored the phone so the jailbreak is no longer there.

I would guess that they made a mistake on their listing. If I were you I would make sure it says it it only for the iPhone 2G.

So i am going to take my iphone to the apple store cause the screen cracked actually it was the outer glass i have the apple protection plan for two years do you think the protection plan will cover that damage or i would have to pay? How much would i pay if my protection plan doesn’t cover being that it was a personal damage?

Last month, they can only unlock iphone to work with any sim card from AT&T, now they claim that can be used with any sim card from any carrier all over the world.

Various hacking sites have been trying to hack the iphone for a while. They have done it, but the phones capabilities are somewhat limited if the carrier isnt at&t. Try googling it im sure a million results will come up.
