I have a gophone plan with an unlocked sim card. Can I buy an unlocked iphone and use it even if I don’t have a data plan?

I am planning to buy and iPhone, but don’t know if I need a data plan. I’m gonna use my current sim card that has unlimited internet. I don’t wanna get charged extra money just because I don’t have a data plan. Anyone have an answer?

You would need another sim card. A T&T iphones uses a smaller sim card then the regular A T&T cell phones. The sizes of the sim card are different. No matter what you would be require to get a data plan. Plus with A T&T there are no more unlimited plan for the iphone. Only 500MB or 2GB of data internet plan for the iphone.

Currently, my mom has an iphone with unlimited texting so she pays the extra fee and the iphone fee. If I got an iphone for our family line, would I also have to pay the iphone fee? In other words, thirty dollars extra total or thirty dollars extra per phone.

It’s 30 dollars extra per phone, because they are separate i phones.
And if you have 2 lines, your family plan comes with it, depending on how many minutes you have

My family as recently gotten a jail broken iPhone (which means we also dont need to stay with At&t). since she already as an iPhone, she was think of adding me to her plan. if this isnt the cheapest plan, then what would be the most economical plan?

how many people are on her plan. know matter what joining someone family plan is always the cheapest way especially if the already have family text. the only problem with a jailbroke i phone is the warranty with apple and you have to still use a company that uses a sim card. which is only att and tmobile that i now of. the problem is use lose alot of the benefits of the iphone if u swap carriers because you lose the internet speed and the ability to talk and surf the web like the ads always advertise. you can also not have the regular iphone plan added to your account and just add the 10 dollar family data since your phone is jailbroke but you only get to use wifi then. you take a chance of no apps.

I am not eligible for an upgrade until January but I want the iphone 3g now. My friend has the iphone 3g and wants to sell it to me. If I go to cingular will they switch the data plan to my accound even though I didnt buy the iphone from them? Thanks ahead of time.

you cant use the iphone with cingular, because it is locked! you need to get an unlocked iphone if you want to use it under carriers other than AT&T

I currently have ATT and use a basic phone with no data plan. I was wanting to get an iPhone on ebay but I do not want the data plan because I would never use 3G. However, I do want to use WiFi. Is this at all possible? What if I buy an iPhone on ebay that is either unlocked or jail broken.

Yes you can. However sometimes when they unlock the phones they can damage them. This happened to me with a Palm Treo. No data plan ….bought data plan later and phone was damaged.
