Does the iphone internet works exactly like the one on the computer?

Question by Farrel L: Does the iphone internet works exactly like the one on the computer?
I’m planning to buy an iPhone. But before i do that i need to find out if the iphone can view every website just like the one on the computer. Does Safari support all websites including JAVA and flash players. Can i view Youtube and pics and other videos on the Iphone using the interent website? One last thing how long does it take for a page to load?

YouTube is on the iPhone. You can’t view like Java and flash things though.. I guess you’d have to download them and I’m not sure if you can. You can see pictures there and any Youtube videos though.
The pages load pretty quick for me, but it depends on your internet connection speed.

No, not if you are using WiFi. I am doing the same thing, just I have a sim card that isnt activated.

Basically, since I pay for the 3g network already for my Iphone can I use it on my laptop somehow? Maybe I have to purchase a network card, or blutooth to the iphone? Please let me know if you have any info or ideas.

I just got the iPhone and I’ve been looking into this. What I’ve found out is that you need to jailbreak your iPhone in order to install the app that allows you to tether you iPhone to your laptop. I have not jailbroken my iphone yet but from what I’ve read, it’s pretty easy and there is no down side to doing it. It allows you install third party apps that are not available in the app store.

You would need another sim card. A T&T iphones uses a smaller sim card then the regular A T&T cell phones. The sizes of the sim card are different. No matter what you would be require to get a data plan. Plus with A T&T there are no more unlimited plan for the iphone. Only 500MB or 2GB of data internet plan for the iphone.

I want to use the internet browser (safari) on my iPhone, but it says there’s no internet connection.I try setting one up in Network Settings but it says theres no routers around when there is one. Is it just doing this because there is no sim card in the iPhone or what?

Put the the phone in airplane mode, and turn the wifi back on. Thats it. If there’s no SIM card do you really think there’s a network? Thats what wifi is for. If it doesn’t pick it up, make sure it’s not a Wireless-N router broadcasting in only N. iPhones work on Wireless-G and less.

It’s legal in the United States to unlock (whether it’s legal in other countries, I have no idea) due to the DMCA.

And yes you can use internet, YouTube, etc. Just make sure to get an unlimited data plan, cause the iPhone is useless without it (without the internet, iPhone is just like any other phone…only three times as expensive). The iPhone is hailed one of the best because of the internet being full internet rather than every site being a mobile version or messed up version.

The phone works and the texting works, but the internet (email, browsing, etc…) does not work! My buddy and I sit right next to each other, he has edge (the older iphone) and i have the 3g but neither can contact the cellular network when trying to use e-mail or the web browser. Anyone else having this problem? or does anyone got a clue to why this may be? thanks!

Iphone 3g’s are having lots of problems with 3g connectivity. Your not the only one experiencing this u can try to update or downgrade from 2.1.0 to 2.x and see if that helps but it does void your warranty.
